The orange LED indicates that the battery is charging even if no battery is connected. It is possible to disable the LED by removing a resistor from the board.
- While holding the resistor with a pair of tweezers, carefully heat the solder connecting the resistor (marked in the figure below) to the board with the tip of a fine soldering iron until the resistor can be removed.
- Alternatively, you may desolder just one connector of the resistor and turn it slightly away. This makes it easier to restore the original setup.
